World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade lets players boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats such as crit chance, attack damage as well as PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. This bonus could be greater than the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is generally an excellent thing however, it could have negative consequences too. In the case of items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could make them unusable unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to increase their effectiveness. This can increase the defense base of a helm or chest while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain when upgraded, along with their respective values. This means that a change from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the menu for items. This will reroll an item and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has, the more value you will get from every point of health you have therefore it is important to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and to unlock each fountain, you must complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the fountain in question and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. It isn't possible to upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or spell power. Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be earned through crafting them on a craft table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the upgrade price is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can choose the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will give you when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you use it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
There were a few changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display). The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be used in cauldrons. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the contents and refills the bottle.

Upgrades to trinkets are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new ones. A player can upgrade their trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the older one, and have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value with time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for instance an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For instance If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank it is recommended that they upgrade their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl after they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will destroy the trinket unless it can be saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing a new one.
